Creating A Food Handbook

Purpose and Scope

Create a clear, maintainable food handbook for Allied Assist virtual assistants supporting named clients. The handbook should provide reliable food categories, preparation and presentation guidance, and client-specific dietary considerations without replacing official nutrition or safety guidance.

Procedure

1. Research categories. Gather information from reliable culinary, nutrition, and client-approved sources. Cover categories relevant to the client base and note dietary needs such as gluten-free, vegan, or low-carbohydrate options.

2. Organize content. Group similar foods and use consistent headings. Separate general reference material from client-specific requirements.

3. Draft sections. Use plain language suitable for VAs without extensive culinary training. Include accurate descriptions, preparation tips, presentation guidance, and any approved nutrition or safety notes.

4. Review and revise. Have a qualified team member proofread for accuracy, clarity, outdated information, and alignment with Allied Assist/client standards. Escalate nutrition or allergy questions rather than guessing.

5. Finalize and distribute. Format the handbook for easy navigation, publish it only to the approved internal platform, and provide a feedback path for corrections and improvements.

6. Maintain. Assign an owner and review cadence. Update content when client preferences, dietary requirements, or official guidance changes.

Quality Checklist

- Reliable sources used and client requirements identified

- Categories and dietary subcategories organized consistently

- Instructions written in clear, practical language

- Accuracy and safety review completed

- Approved distribution location confirmed

- Owner, feedback path, and review cadence recorded
